Our Christmas trip to Salerno and Napoli with Erasmus was fantastic! Both cities, located in the southern part of Italy, offer a unique blend of history, culture, and delicious cuisine. 

We joined ESN napoli and ESN Salerno for the Santa Claus Party which was amazing and we enjoyed the beauty of the Campania region during our stay :)

Salerno:

  1. Christmas Lights in Salerno: Salerno is famous for its elaborate Christmas light displays. The city hosts the "Luci d'Artista" (Artist's Lights) event, where the streets are adorned with beautiful and artistic light installations. Take a stroll through the historic center to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

  2. Salerno Cathedral (Duomo): Visit the Salerno Cathedral, a stunning medieval cathedral located in the heart of the city. The nativity scene and decorations during the Christmas season add to the beauty of the place.

Napoli (Naples):

  1. Christmas Markets: Napoli hosts various Christmas markets during the holiday season. Visit Piazza San Gaetano and Via San Gregorio Armeno for traditional Christmas markets where you can buy local crafts, decorations, and holiday treats.

  2. Spaccanapoli: Wander through Spaccanapoli, a narrow street that cuts through the historic center of Naples. This area is full of energy, with shops, cafes, and churches. It's a great place to soak up the local atmosphere.

  3. Pizza in Napoli: Don't miss the chance to try authentic Neapolitan pizza. Napoli is the birthplace of pizza, and you'll find numerous pizzerias serving delicious, traditional pies.
